Small contemporary garden

Garden project: really different and special

A complete design and build service to achieve a 'wow' factor.
The owner of this newly built property got in touch with us to ask for a complete design and build service. We had worked with her before on her previous garden and after moving again she wanted to have a garden with 'wow' factor. We are often asked to come up with creative ideas for new gardens. It's a great opportunity to do something really different and special. As with most newly built houses, the garden was a completely blank canvas - there we no constraints. However, as with many newly built gardens, the subsoil was poor, which isn't good for new plants.

The client wanted colour/foliage all year round and wanted a wildlife friendly garden but with a modern twist, as it was a new build we felt that a contemporary design would be in keeping.

Different areas of interest

The garden was very flat and needed some height which Daniel introduced with planting and a pergola. By adding different areas of interest, including a wildflower area, the garden looked so much bigger than when it was just a lawn. Even in a small garden it is possible to break create different sections so that the whole garden isn’t seen immediately giving the visitor a reason to explore the space. By choosing wildlife friendly plants in this garden, what was a very sterile space is now humming with the sound of bees in summer and attracts various butterflies and birds. After just one season of growth it was teeming with wildlife. A small garden doesn’t have to be boring!
