Designing a Smaller Garden with Scandinavian Influences
The owners of this garden in Woodeaten contacted us for a complete redesign. They mentioned having a small back garden next to a field, which they want to revamp, along with the small front garden. They admire the bold, romantic style of gardens by Oehme and van Sweden, but recognize the challenge of achieving that in a limited space. The garden’s main purpose is to serve as a spot to enjoy the view.
Transforming the Space
We completely redesigned both the back and front gardens, incorporating the client’s taste and personality. Drawing on Scandinavian influences, we aimed for a minimalist aesthetic to enhance the stunning view of the field that the garden opens to. Designing within a smaller space allowed us to be more creative with angles, giving the illusion of a larger area. With the field as a natural backdrop, we integrated its beauty into the overall design. We’re delighted that the clients love the space and that it has exceeded their expectations.
6 Months after Completion
Visiting only six months after the garden’s completion means there’s still much growth ahead. We often say a garden looks its best a year or two after planting, as this allows the plants time to fully flourish.
