Inspirational wildlife garden

design for an idyllic setting

This garden in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside needed more character adding to the green lawns.

This garden is set in the beautiful south Oxfordshire countryside. When the owner moved in it had a rather overgrown woodland area and pond – very peaceful and rural in character. Initially, the client required us to introduce some structure and formality. Although a keen plantsman, he required some ideas on the layout of the plot, which was about four acres in total. A garden design was required to bring all the elements together in a cohesive way, above all the owner was keen to attract wildlife into the garden to create biodiversity.

Admire The Vistas

Our brief was to create a very natural style garden, with a water feature and various seating areas. The idea was to have a garden to stroll through and admire the vistas. They like scented, cottage planting which would very much be in keeping with the country cottage look. Daniel’s design included a secluded rill garden, hidden from the house on the edge of the garden to be discovered with ferns, giant rheum palmatum tanguticum and river birch growing in and around it. Below the surface of the pond the riven grey sandstone paving makes a more comfortable surface to splash around on bare-foot.
