Large Garden, Traditional & Contemporary Styles

Blending Traditional & Contemporary Styles

The owner of this property wanted a garden they could truly be passionate about, as well as a beautiful space for hosting. The garden started as a blank canvas, giving us the freedom to fully customise the design to their preferences, including creating more privacy. The slight slope in the garden required us to incorporate different levels into the layout. This worked well, allowing us to divide the garden into distinct sections, each offering a unique experience as you move through the space.

At the entrance, there’s an outdoor kitchen area, perfect for entertaining, surrounded by traditional cottage-style planting. As you follow the path, corrugated steel-edged flower beds guide you through the garden. The owners also wanted to showcase their sculptures, and we created dedicated spaces where these pieces could be truly admired. As you continue through the garden, you’re guided by striking vertical timber fins, which lead to a stunning corrugated steel water feature, surrounded by ornamental grasses.

This garden is broken up into different sections, leading to a very mediterranean style swimming pool area which makes you feel as if you are on holiday when you are near it. For this area the planting style is very structured with Prunus lusitanica hedging on the outer edging, which is wonderful for creating privacy as well as creating a more contemporary feel.

You make your way to this area down some concrete block stairs rendered with porcelain, this whole area is finished with porcelain tiling. In the corner, a charming gazebo provides a wonderful place to relax, surrounded by vibrant salvias and ornamental grasses, adding a touch of colour and softness to the space.
