Sheena’s Plant of the Month: Crambe cordifolia

If you want a bit of drama in the garden, the Greater Sea Kale is the plant for you. You can’t miss a Crambe, with its huge froth of white scented flowers, which last for most of the summer months. It looks like a cloud has landed in your garden, creating a mecca for butterflies and bees, but it will need plenty of space as it grows to about 2m tall and spreads to about 1.5m. If you don’t have a big enough area, try the smaller growing Crambe Maratina instead. Crambes aren’t fussy about soil but will need good drainage and full sun for a spectacular display.
