Inspirational wildlife garden

Garden project: design for an idyllic setting

This garden in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside needed more character adding to the green lawns.
This garden is in an idyllic setting, backing onto fields, with views of the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside. The garden was laid mostly to lawn and the owners wanted to break up the expanse of green, create meandering pathways through drifts of plantings to attract more bees and butterflies into the garden.

Admire the vistas

Our brief was to create a very natural style garden, with a water feature and various seating areas. The idea was to have a garden to stroll through and admire the vistas. They like scented, cottage planting which would very much be in keeping with the country cottage look. Daniel’s design included a secluded rill garden, hidden from the house on the edge of the garden to be discovered with ferns, giant rheum palmatum tanguticum and river birch growing in and around it. Below the surface of the pond the riven grey sandstone paving makes a more comfortable surface to splash around on bare-foot.
